The entrance gives a surprisingly modest and cozy impression.

丁子屋(ちょうじや)3

“Eh? Are we eating here?”
I look a little doubtful, but don’t worry. There are only about three tables on the first floor, but you can also dine in the tatami room on the second floor.

丁子屋(ちょうじや)4

What to order? Of course, the grilled eel over rice (unajū)!
Since they start cooking after receiving the order, you will have to wait for quite a while.
But for something this delicious, it’s worth the wait.
Inside, you can see newspaper articles and TV program features posted all over the place.
It’s clearly a very famous restaurant.

丁子屋(ちょうじや)5

Ta-dah! This is the unajū!
I accidentally took a bite before remembering to take the photo.
It just looked so incredibly delicious, I couldn’t resist.

丁子屋(ちょうじや)6

So delicious! The wait was definitely worth it.

The secret sauce, which has been protected for 300 years since the Edo period, is absolutely wonderful.
It’s the kind of flavor you could easily get addicted to.

(Kaori’s Highlights)

The deliciousness of Choujiya’s eel leaves a truly unforgettable impression.
You’ll find yourself thinking, “No wonder this place has survived since the Edo period.”
The sauce soaked into the rice is also exceptional.
