Hello, this is Kaori.
I’d long heard rumors about how delicious the udon is at “Udon Artisan Okamoto” in the Nasu Highlands, so I finally decided to visit.

The interior has a warm, handmade feel, and you can enjoy carefully crafted udon, inari sushi, homemade tofu, and more.

I finally visited this udon shop I’d heard so many delicious rumors about.

The interior has a handcrafted feel and a very homey atmosphere.

I started with inari sushi.
Wow—it was really tasty.

Then came a beautifully plated serving of udon.
The delicate flavor of the homemade tofu was exceptional as well.

The texture of the udon was wonderful—springy yet smooth.
The portion was a bit large, but I found myself slurping it down with ease.

Okamoto’s udon is truly delicious.
They provide small plates for children, so families with little udon-lovers are very welcome.
The noodles are so good that kids might end up grabbing them with their hands!

You can also buy packaged udon here to take home as a souvenir.
In the Nasu Highlands, everything seems to taste better, and Okamoto’s udon is no exception.
I especially recommend buying some to cook at home.
You’ll probably find yourself saying, “I had no idea udon could taste this good!”
It’s sure to overturn your usual image of udon.
You can happily slurp it down even without dipping sauce, just savoring the flavor of the noodles themselves.
Since being featured on TV, the shop has become very popular and is often bustling, but this is a bowl of udon you really should try at least once.
